Fishing FAQs
What types of fishing are available at Swain’s Cay Lodge?
Guests can enjoy bonefishing, deep-sea fishing, reef fishing and spearfishing, all suited to the excellent fishing grounds around Mangrove Cay and Andros.
Do I need a guide to go bonefishing?
Not necessarily. We work with handpicked local guides for bonefishing on the South and Middle Bight, and there is also a wade-able bonefish flat right off our beach if you would like to fish independently.
What fish can I expect to catch on a deep-sea fishing trip?
Just outside the Andros Barrier Reef the water depth drops rapidly, creating great conditions for large pelagic species such as wahoo, dolphin fish, tuna and billfish.
What kind of fish are caught while reef fishing?
Guests fishing the Andros Barrier Reef with our local guides typically catch yellowtail snapper, Nassau grouper, triggerfish, barracuda, reef sharks and porgy.
Is spearfishing suitable for beginners?
Yes, our team can arrange guided spearfishing tours and lessons for guests who are new to it.
Can fishing be combined with other activities during my stay?
Yes. Many guests combine their fishing trips with kayaking, snorkelling, cycling or exploring Mangrove Cay for a varied island experience.
Where can I find pricing and package information for fishing?
You can download our fishing guide and price list from this page, or get in touch with the lodge directly for more information.
